Elana Meyers Taylor finishes second ahead of Stephanie Schneider
Königssee (RWH) Kaillie Humphries (USA) won the 2020/2021 Women's Monobob World Series race at Königssee (GER). In her second victory in the series, Humphries, the 2010 and 2014 Olympic 2-woman bobsleigh champion, was 0.62 seconds ahead of second place after two runs.
Her team-mate Elana Meyers Taylor (USA) took second place in Koenigssee. For the 2014 and 2018 Olympic silver medallist in 2-woman bobsleigh, it was the first podium finish in women's monobob.
Third place went to Stephanie Schneider of host team Germany, 0.75 seconds behind winner Humphries. It was also Schneider's first podium in the race series.
Yooran Kim from Korea, competing for the first time in the 2020/2021 IBSF Women's Monobob World Series, surprised with fourth place at Königssee. In her only previous monobob start in Lake Placid in November 2019, Yooran Kim was second - at that time still with the old sled model. The current monobobs, like the 2-man and 4-man bobsleighs, consist of two parts at the front and back that can move against each other.
The Women's Monobob World Series will be held in winter 2020/2021 during all IBSF race series. The competition at Königssee sliding track was the third of the series to be run during a BMW IBSF World Cup. 2022 in Beijing, the discipline is on the program of the Olympic Winter Games for the first time.
