Johannes Lochner second in intermediate classification ahead of Michael Vogt

Altenberg (RWH) Defending champion Francesco Friedrich (GER) is on his way to his seventh World Championships title in a row in the 2-man bobsleigh. In the first two of the four runs to BMW IBSF World Championships 2021 in Altenberg (GER), Friedrich and push athlete Alexander Schueller have a big lead of 0.88 seconds on second place. The overall World Cup runner-up Johannes Lochner with Eric Franke (GER) took second place overnight. Switzerland's Michael Vogt/Sandro Michel will start the second day of racing in intermediate third place. The silver medallists of the 2021 Junior World Championships are 0.93 seconds behind the leading duo Friedrich/Schueller.

Also within reach of the medal places after the first World Championships day in Altenberg are the Junior World Champions Hans-Peter Hannighofer/Christian Roeder in fourth place (+ 1.03 seconds), Switzerland's Simon Friedli/Andreas Haas (+ 1.15 seconds) in fifth and from Latvia the 2020 European Champion Oskars Kibermanis with Matiss Miknis (+ 1.19 seconds) in sixth place.

The World Championships final in the 2-man bobsleigh with race runs number three and four is on Sunday, 7 February, at 2.30 and 4 pm.
