Final in 2-woman and 4-man bobsleigh cancelled after defect in refrigeration system, Buckwitz and Bredikhin overall winners
Königssee (RWH) With Michael Kuonen from Switzerland as overall winner and Mihai Tentea from Romania as Junior European Champion the IBSF Europe Cup 2020/2021 in 2-man bobsleigh came to an end at Königssee (GER).
Mihai Tentea/Ciprian Daroczi (ROU) won the eighth and last race of the season ahead of Maximilian Illmann/Felix Dahms (GER, 0.12 seconds back) and Michael Kuonen/Pascal Moser (SUI, 0.13 seconds back).
The titles as Junior European Champions in both the U26 and U23 rankings were secured by Romania's Tentea/Daroczi with their victory in the final.
Overall Europe Cup winner in the 2-man bobsleigh is Michael Kuonen (SUI, 812 points), who stood on the podium five times in the eight races of the season. Latvian Davis Kaufmanis (634 points) secured second place ahead of Hans-Peter Hannighofer (GER, 576) in third.
The final races in the IBSF European Cup with Junior European Championships in 2-woman bobsleigh and in 4-man bobsleigh, scheduled for Sunday (21 February), were cancelled. Due to technical problems in the energy supply of the refrigeration system, which cannot be solved at short notice, the track at Königssee had to end the season prematurely.
The overall Europe Cup winner in the 2-woman bobsleigh is thus Lisa Buckwitz (GER), the 2018 Olympic Champion as Mariama Jamanka's pusher. Anastasiia Dudkina (RUS) finished second ahead of 2020 overall World Cup winner Stephanie Schneider. In the 4-man bobsleigh, Alexander Bredikhin (RUS) is the overall winner, Maximilian Illmann (GER) is second ahead of Maxim Andrianov (RUS) in third place. The combination classification of 2-man and 4-man bobsleigh was won by Michael Kuonen (SUI) ahead of Maximilian Illmann (GER) and Maxim Andrianov (RUS). ©RWH2021
