Porto Alegre (RWH) The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF mourns the death of Odirlei Pessoni. The 38-year-old bobsleigh athlete from the Brazilian team died in a motorbike accident on 27 March. This was announced by the Brazilian Ice Sports Federation (Confederação Brasileira de Desportos no Gelo, CBDG) in Porto Alegre.
Odirlei Pessoni competed in his first IBSF race in Innsbruck in November 2009, finishing 20th in the 2-man bobsleigh with pilot Edson Bindilatti. Pessoni celebrated his greatest successes in the 4-man bobsleigh: with the Bindilatti team, the Brazilian took the overall victory in the IBSF North American Cup in 2015 and 2018.
At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi (RUS) and 2018 in PyeongChang (KOR), Odirlei Pessoni competed in the 4-man bobsleigh with pilot Edson Bindilatti. The quartet from Brazil finished 26th and 23rd. ©RWH2021
