Riga (RWH) The 2-man Bobsleigh team of Oskars Ķibermanis/Matīss Miknis has won the 2020 „Team of the year“ award in Latvia. As The Latvian Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation LBSF announced in a press release, the duo was announced as the best team in individual sports at the ceremony of the Three Star Awards 2020.
Ķibermanis/Miknis were the first bobsleigh athletes to claim the European Championship title in 2-man Bobsleigh for Latvia. They won gold cheered by a huge home crowd at the Sigulda track in February 2020. Additionally, Oskars Ķibermanis/Matīss Miknis won World Championships bronze in Altenberg and finished second overall in the BMW IBSF World Cup 2019/2020.
The Three Star Awards 2020 event, in accordance with the country’s epidemiological safety measures and guidelines, was organised by the Latvian Olympic Committee, the Latvian Paralympic Committee and the Sports Federation Council of Latvia with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science. ©RWH2021
