Stephanie Schneider with two victories in Women’s Monobob
Lillehammer (RWH) Czech pilot Adam Dobes in 2-man Bobsleigh, Alexey Stulnev (RUS) in 4-man Bobsleigh and the tied Germans Lisa Buckwitz and Stephanie Schneider in 2-woman Bobsleigh are the leaders after the first two races of IBSF Europe Cup 2021/2022.
Adam Dobes celebrated his first ever victory in the 2-man Bobsleigh kick-off race in Lillehammer (NOR) and finished fourth in the second race. Second overall currently in Europe Cup ranking is 2020 Junior World Champion Richard Oelsner (GER), who finished fifth and first.
In 4-man Bobsleigh, Russian pilot Alexey Stulnev leads the field following two victories ahead of Swiss Michael Kuonen and Timo Rohner, who finished second and third, respectively, in both races.
Tied leaders with 230 points from one victory and one second place each in 2-woman Bobsleigh are 2020 BMW IBSF World Cup Champion Stephanie Schneider and Olympic Champion Lisa Buckwitz (both GER). Schneider set a track record in Lillehammer with 52,73 seconds, Buckwitz set a new start record (5,42 seconds). Russian Alena Osipenko finished third in both Europe Cup races and is currently also third overall.
In Women’s Monobob, new Olympic discipline in Beijing 2022 and as World Series scheduled in all IBSF race series this season, Stephanie Schneider won both races in Lillehammer. The World Championships silver medallist finished ahead of Karlien Sleper from the Netherlands, respectively. Youth Olympic Games silver medallist Victoria Černanska and Lisa Buckwitz finished third. ©RWH2021
