World Champion Kaillie Humphries second in Innsbruck ahead of Laura Nolte

Innsbruck (RWH) Elana Meyers Taylor from the USA celebrated her first victory in the Women's Monobob World Series at the start of the 2021/2022 Olympic season. At the BMW IBSF World Cup in Innsbruck (AUT), the bobsleigh pilot won an extremely exciting race with best times in both runs.

After the first run, Meyers-Taylor and World Championships bronze medallist Laura Nolte (GER) were tied in the lead with track record times (55.25 seconds), followed by World Champion Kaillie Humphries (USA) by 0.02 seconds. In the second race Elana Meyers Taylor again set the fastest time and celebrated a double success for the US team with team mate Humphries in second place (0.13 seconds behind). Laura Nolte (0.14 seconds back) finished third in Innsbruck.

28 sleds from 19 nations were a record field for the Women's Monobob World Series at the BMW IBSF World Cup. Athletes from seven nations were represented in the top ten in Innsbruck.

Women's Monobob will be an Olympic event for the first time at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
