Brad Hall and Johannes Lochner tied for second place in Innsbruck
Innsbruck (RWH) At the end of the first World Cup weekend of the Olympic season, bobsleigh pilot Francesco Friedrich won the 4-man bobsleigh race with his team. At the BMW IBSF World Cup in Innsbruck, the Olympic, World and European Champion and defending World Cup Champion took World Cup victory number 16 in the large sled with Thorsten Margis, Candy Bauer and Alexander Schüller.
Second place was shared by two teams at the World Cup opener: Brad Hall with Taylor Lawrence, Nick Gleeson and Greg Cackett (GBR) celebrated the best 4-man bobsleigh result of his World Cup career at the start of the Olympic season. World Championships bronze medallist Johannes Lochner (GER) with Christopher Weber, Eric Bruckert and Christian Rasp. tied for second with the British team (0.26 seconds behind).
Close behind in fourth place on their home track in Innsbruck was World Championship silver medallist and local hero Benjamin Maier (AUT) with Sascha Stepan, Markus Sammer and Kristan Huber.
27 sleds from 16 nations took part in the 4-man bobsleigh event at the start of the BMW IBSF World Cup 2021/2022. Athletes from eight nations were represented in the top ten in Innsbruck.
In the overall standings for the BMW IBSF World Cup 2021/2022, Francesco Friedrich (GER, 225 points) leads ahead of Johannes Lochner (GER) and Brad Hall (GBR), who are tied on points with 210 points each.
