Laura Nolte second in Innsbruck ahead of Breeana Walker

Innsbruck (RWH) Elana Meyers Taylor from the USA celebrated her second victory in a row in the Women's Monobob World Series. At the BMW IBSF World Cup in Innsbruck (AUT), the bobsleigh pilot also won the second race of the Olympic winter after her opening victory.

Laura Nolte (GER, 0.05 seconds back) came in second. After sixth place in the first run, she made it onto the podium with the best run time in round two. The 2021 World Championships bronze medallist had started her career as a bobsleigh pilot in the monobob: In 2016 in Lillehammer she became Youth Olympic Champion with this kind of sled. In her four monobob competitions in the BMW IBSF World Cup so far, the 23-year-old has always finished on the podium: she came third once and second three times.

Third place at the BMW IBSF World Cup in Innsbruck went to Breeana Walker from Australia (0.19 seconds back, who in seven starts in the Women's Monobob World Series so far has been on the podium four times, twice even as the winner.

Monobob World Champion Kaillie Humphries (USA), second at the start of the World Cup season a week earlier, came in sixth in Innsbruck this time. 

The best pilot from Olympic host team China was Mingming Huai in tenth place. The 26-year-old came into the top ten for the first time, following rank 15 after the first run and with the third-best time in the second run.

At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, the women's monobob discipline will be an Olympic event for the first time.
