Johannes Lochner finishes second in Winterberg ahead of Justin Kripps from Canada

Winterberg (RWH) Once again the World Cup winner in fo4ur-man bobsleigh in the Olympic winter is Francesco Friedrich (GER). At the BMW IBSF World Cup in Winterberg, the Olympic and World Champion, who won his fourth race, beat his team-mate Johannes Lochner (GER) and Canada's Justin Kripps to second and third place.

This time, however, the initial situation did not favour the defending World Cup champion Friedrich as the winner: After 4-man bobsleigh race one of the BMW IBSF World Cup in Winterberg, the first three teams were separated by two hundredths of a second - and the Friedrich team was in third place behind the leader Johannes Lochner and Christoph Hafer (GER). However, with the best time in the second race run, Friedrich with Thorsten Margis, Martin Grothkopp and Alexander Schueller then drove to victory. Johannes Lochner (GER, 0.05 seconds back) finished second with Florian Bauer, Christopher Weber and Christian Rasp as the push crew ahead of Justin Kripps (CAN, 0.14 seconds back) with Ryan Sommer, Cam Stones and Ben Coakwell.

In the overall ranking for the BMW IBSF World Cup 2021/2022, Francesco Friedrich (GER, 900 points) is clearly in the lead at the halfway point with the highest possible score. Johannes Lochner (GER, 780 points) moved up to second place with second place in Winterberg. Benjamin Maier (AUT, 762) finished sixth in Winterberg with Danut Moldovan, Markus Sammer and Kristian Huber and is third overall at the World Cup half-time.
