U23 titles to Diana Filipszki and Stepan Dubinko
Innsbruck (RWH) Lubov Chernykh (RUS, 2-woman bob) and Davis Kaufmanis (LAT, 4-man bob) have won the 2022 Junior World Championships in Innsbruck (AUT).
In the 2-woman bobsleigh, Lubov Chernykh/Anastasia Kurysheva set the best time in both race runs and relegated Maureen Zimmer/Anabel Galander (GER) to second place. The day before, pilot Zimmer had won the first Junior World Championship title in women's monobob. Bronze at the Junior World Championships went to the youngest pilot on the starting grid: Charlotte Candrix (GER), who celebrated her 17th birthday at the end of December 2021, came in third with push athlete Vanessa Mark.
U23 World Champions 2022 are Diana Filipszki/Lauryn Siebert (GER) ahead of the Junior World Champion in women's monobob Viktória Čerňanská from Slovakia, who raced with push athlete Patricia Tajcnarova in the 2-woman bobsleigh. U23 bronze went to Youth Olympic Champion Georgeta Popescu from Romania with Antonia Sarbu.
In the 4-man bobsleigh, Davis Kaufmanis from Latvia secured the title of 2022 Junior World Champion. With the best time in the second race run, the Latvian quartet had a lead of 0.02 seconds and relegated the previously leading Germans with pilot Maximilian Illmann to second place. Illmann, who had won the 2-man bobsleigh title the day before, took silver in the 4-man event. The bronze medal went to the team of Jonas Jannusch (GER).
In the U23 classification, two 4-man bobsleigh teams competed at the 2022 World Junior Championships in Innsbruck: Stepan Dubinko from Russia won gold ahead of the local heroes from Team Austria with pilot Markus Kaiser. ©RWH2022
