St. Moritz (RWH) Swiss Parabob athlete Jonas Frei has ended the the 2021/2022 season in IBSF Para Sport World Cup winning the final two races, the overall World Cup as well as European Championships gold.

At the Olympia Bobrun St. Moritz Celerina, the reigning World Champion at first won ahead of his teammate Christopher Stewart and Austrian Hermann Ellmauer, who celebrated his first podium finish. The final race of the season also counted as European Championships – and Frei won gold ahead of Briton Corie Mapp with silver. Bronze went to Nikolai Johann from Germany.

In the World Cup ranking, Jonas Frei (SUI, 1703 points) finished the season on top of the score board after five wins in eight races to win his first ever Overall title. US athlete Robert Balk (1548) captured second place in his debut season ahead of  Corie Mapp (GBR, 1510).

At the final races of the season in St. Moritz, a total of 18 athletes from twelve nations competed, including three women. As best female athlete, Slovenian Ziva Lavrinc finished seventh overall. Over the whole season, 21 athletes from 13 nations took part at IBSF Para Sport World Cup races.

The athletes now head to Norway, where the IBSF Para Sport World Championships take place in Lillehammer on February 26 and 27, 2022. ©RWH2022
