Brad Hall in second place in Whistler ahead of Johannes Lochner
Whistler (RWH) Olympic Champion, World Champion and defending World Cup Champion Francesco Friedrich (GER) started the BMW IBSF World Cup 2022/2023 with a 2-man bobsleigh victory. With Alexander Schüller as push athlete, Friedrich set the best time in both race runs at the Whistler Sliding Center (CAN) and celebrated World Cup victory number 45 in the small sled.
Friedrich/Schüller were 0.11 seconds ahead of the British team Brad Hall/Taylor Lawrence in second place. The Olympic silver medallist of Beijing 2022 Johannes Lochner (GER, 0.46 seconds back) finished third with Erec Bruckert.
Local hero Taylor Austin, in his second World Cup start as a pilot in the 2-man bobsleigh, finished sixth on his home track with push athlete Shaq Murray-Lawrence.
In the overall standings of the 2022/2023 BMW IBSF World Cup, defending champion Francesco Friedrich (GER, 225 points) is leading after the first of the eight 2-man bobsleigh races of the season ahead of Brad Hall (GBR, 210) and Johannes Lochner (GER, 200).
