Olympic Champion Friedrich second at BMW IBSF World Cup ahead of Michael Vogt 

Lake Placid (RWH) For the first time in two years the 2-man bobsleigh winner at the BMW IBSF World Cup is Johannes Lochner (GER). In the third race of the season in the winter 2022/2023, the Olympic silver medallist from Beijing stood on top of the podium in the small sled for the first time since December 2020.

With push athlete Georg Fleischhauer, Johannes Lochner was 0.32 seconds ahead of Olympic and World Champion Francesco Friedrich with Alexander Schueller (GER) after the two race runs at the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Combination Bobsled, Skeleton & Luge Track.

Switzerland's Michael Vogt/Sandro Michel finished third, 0.38 seconds behind winner Lochner.

Markus Treichl/Markus Sammer from Austria celebrated their best ever World Cup result in 2-man bobsleigh with sixth place.

The best 2-man bobsleigh team of the World Cup hosts from the USA in Lake Placid were Frank Del Duca/Hakeem Abdul-Saboor in eighth place.

In the overall ranking of the 2022/2023 BMW IBSF World Cup Francesco Friedrich (GER, 660 points) defended his lead ahead of Johannes Lochner (GER, 617) and Brad Hall (604) from Great Britain. Hall finished fifth in Lake Placid.
