Laura Nolte second in Altenberg ahead of Cynthia Appiah
Altenberg (RWH) Olympic and World Champion Kaillie Humphries (USA) celebrated her second World Cup season victory in women's monobob. At the BMW IBSF World Cup in Altenberg (GER) the bobsleigh pilot relegated Laura Nolte (GER) and Cynthia Appiah (CAN) to second and third place.
Laura Nolte was almost seven tenths of a second faster in the first run with a new track record (58.80 seconds) than Kaillie Humphries at her World Championships victory in 2021. So Nolte started as the leader into the second race run but dropped back to second place. In the end, she was 0.55 seconds behind Humphries.
Third place in Altenberg went to Canadian Cynthia Appiah, 0.94 seconds behind winner Humphries.
In the overall ranking of the BMW IBSF World Cup 2022/2023 Kaillie Humphries (USA, 1070 points), who was on the podium in all five races of the season, extended her lead. Overall second is Laura Nolte (GER, 1020) ahead of Lisa Buckwitz (GER, 946) who finished fourth in Altenberg.
