Brad Hall in second place in Altenberg ahead of Olympic Champion Friedrich
Altenberg (RWH) Hat-trick for Lochner: The bobsleigh pilot from Germany celebrated the third victory in a row in the 2-man bob at the BMW IBSF World Cup in Altenberg (GER). Together with Georg Fleischhauer, the Olympic silver medallist set the best times at the start and in the track in both race runs. In the end, Lochner/Fleischhauer were 0.44 seconds ahead of Brad Hall/Taylor Lawrence from Great Britain, who celebrated their fourth podium finish in the fifth World Cup of the winter.
Francesco Friedrich, two-time Olympic and seven-time World champion in 2-man bobsleigh, finished third in Altenberg with Alexander Schueller, 1.06 seconds behind winner Lochner.
For Emils Cipulis from Latvia with Matiss Miknis, sixth place in Altenberg was his best 2-man bobsleigh result so far. Li Chunjian/Ding Song from China and Italy's Mattia Variola/Jose Delmas Obou also celebrated their best result in the BMW IBSF World Cup tied for seventh place.
In the overall standings for the BMW IBSF World Cup 2022/2023 Johannes Lochner (GER, 1067 points) extended his lead. Defending champion Francesco Friedrich (GER, 1036) is second overall ahead of Brad Hall (GBR, 1014).
