Christoph Hafer celebrates best result in second place, Johannes Lochner third
Altenberg (RWH) Bobsleigh pilot Brad Hall from Great Britain celebrated the second 4-man bob victory of his career at the BMW IBSF World Cup in Altenberg (GER). With Arran Gulliver, Taylor Lawrence and Greg Cackett as the push team, the Olympic sixth-placed of Beijing narrowly relegated the German team of Christoph Hafer with Kevin Korona, Matthias Sommer and Tobias Schneider (0.09 seconds back) to second place.
Third place was secured by Olympic silver medallist Johannes Lochner with Erec Bruckert, Georg Fleischhauer and Christian Rasp (GER, 0.26 seconds back)
Olympic and World Champion Francesco Friedrich finished fourth with Thorsten Margis, Martin Grothkopp and Alexander Schueller in the sled. For Martin Grothkopp, 2018 Olympic Champion and three times World champion with pilot Friedrich, the race on his home track in Altenberg was the last World Cup.
Emils Cipulis from Latvia celebrated his best result in the BMW IBSF World Cup in Altenberg with Davis Springis, Matiss Miknis and Krists Lindenblats in sixth place.
In the overall ranking for the BMW IBSF World Cup 2022/2023 Francesco Friedrich (GER, 1077 points) defended his lead after the fifth of eight season races just ahead of Brad Hall (GBR, 1062). Third overall is Johannes Lochner (GER, 978).
