Bree Walker third in World Cup, Grecu and Kalicki with European silver and bronze
Altenberg (RWH) The sixth BMW IBSF World Cup 2022/2023 in Altenberg (GER) ended with the fourth World Cup victory of the winter for Olympic Champion Kaillie Humphries (USA) and European Championship gold for Laura Nolte (GER).
In the World Cup ranking of the race, Humphries, reigning World Champion in the solo discipline of female bobsleigh athletes, won ahead of Laura Nolte (GER, 0.52 seconds back). In third place, Australia's Breeana Walker (1.28 seconds back) celebrated her first podium finish of the winter in the monobob World Cup.
As the best European athlete, Laura Nolte won her first gold medal. Silver went to Romania's Andreea Grecu (World Cup rank six) ahead of Kim Kalicki (GER, World Cup rank seven).
Ying Qing from China just missed the World Cup podium on rank four, but celebrated her best result in the World Cup. Cynthia Appiah (CAN) went from ninth to fifth in the second run.
In the overall ranking of the BMW IBSF World Cup 2022/2023 Kaillie Humphries (USA, 1295 points extended her lead. Laura Nolte (GER, 1230) is second overall ahead of Cynthia Appiah (CAN, 1106).
