Hermann Ellmauer from Austria second in St. Moritz ahead of US athlete Guillermo Castillo

St. Moritz (RWH) Half-time lead for local hero Christopher Stewart: At the IBSF Para-Sport World Championships 2023 St. Moritz-Celerina (SUI) the bobsleigh pilot from Switzerland is in the lead after the first race day in Para-Bob with an advantage of 0.19 seconds.

From second place in the intermediate ranking, Austria's Hermann Ellmauer goes into the third of the four race runs at the Olympia Bobrun St. Moritz-Celerina. Third currently is US pilot Guillermo Castillo (0.55 seconds back), the overall leader in the IBSF Para-Sport World Cup.

Also still within reach of a World Championships medal at the events halfway point are Great Britain's Corie Mapp 0.58 seconds back), 2016 and 2019 World Champion Lonnie Bissonnette (CAN, 0.65 seconds back) and European Champion Arturs Klots (LAT, 0.66 seconds back).

Swiss local hero Jonas Frei, World Champion in 2021 and 2022, is seventh in the intermediate ranking.

In St. Moritz, the IBSF athletes with disabilities are for the first time with all other IBSF disciplines at a joint IBSF World Championships. At the 2023 BMW IBSF World Championships St. Moritz-Celerina, para-sport is one of the eight disciplines with decisions for gold, silver and bronze.
