Olympic Champion Friedrich second, Brad Hall third overall
Sigulda (RWH) Eight World Cup races, six victories in a row and for the first time overall World Cup winner in 2-man bobsleigh: World Champion Johannes Lochner (GER) won the final of the BMW IBSF World Cup in Sigulda (LAT) and for the first time took the big crystal globe trophy for the overall victory in the small sled.
Lochner and pusher Georg Fleischhauer won in Sigulda ahead of Olympic Champion and defending World Cup Champion Francesco Friedrich (GER, 0.36 seconds back). Third place in the final went to Switzerland's Michael Vogt/Sandro Michel (0.44 seconds back)
Junior World Champion Adam Ammour (GER) with his older brother Issam Ammour as push athlete finished fourth on his debut in the BMW IBSF World Cup, tied with Great Britain's Brad Hall/Greg Cackett. Li Chunjian/Zhen Heng from China celebrated their best World Cup result so far with sixth place at the final in Sigulda.
Overall winner in the 2-man bobsleigh ranking for the BMW IBSF World Cup 2022/2023 is Johannes Lochner (GER 1742 points). Francesco Friedrich (GER, 1656) finished second after four consecutive overall victories in the last years. Brad Hall (GBR) came in third with 1582 points to become Great Britain’s first ever 2-man bobsleigh Overall World Cup medalist.
The victory in the combined ranking of 2-man and 4-man bobsleigh World Cup goes to 4-man overall winner Francesco Friedrich (3393 points) ahead of Lochner (3312) and Hall (3289) in winter 2022/2023.
