Istanbul (RWH) Former bobsleigh push athlete Jazmin Sawyers has won the long jump title at the European Indoor Championships. The Brit won in Istanbul with a personal best of exactly seven meters.

The now 28-year-old had won the silver medal at the 2012 Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck as a pusher for pilot Mica McNeill. The winter before, Sawyers had already competed alongside Kirsten Emery in the Bobsleigh Europe awoCup at Igls, finishing 19th in each of two races.

However, Sawyers is more successful as a long jumper: She has already won silver (2016) and bronze (2022) at the European Championships and took part in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where she finished eighth. ©RWH2023
