Lake Placid (RWH) The film "Citizen Athlete," which follows the U.S. women's bobsled team on its way to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, has won the "Best Action Sport Film" category at the 2023 Mammoth Film Festival. This was announced by the U.S. Bobsled/Skeleton Federation (USABS) in Lake Placid, New York.

The movie by director Brandt Wille focuses on pilots Kaillie Humphries and Elana Meyers Taylor as well as their push athletes and many other members of the US federation. Kaillie Humphries, Olympic Champion for Canada at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Games, recounts her emotional journey from Team Canada to Team USA and the personal struggles and turmoil she endured to become a U.S. citizen in time for the 2022 Olympics. The efforts were rewarded with a gold medal in the monobob for the most successful female bobsled pilot of all time.

The film also shows Elana Meyers Taylors' difficulties balancing a growing family with competing. "Citizen Athlete" ends with the end of the Winter Games, where the film's main actresses won several medals for Team USA.
