Washington (RWH) US President Joe Biden has announced his intent to appoint bobsleigh pilot Elana Meyers Taylor as one of the members of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, & Nutrition. This was announced in an press release at whitehouse.gov.

According to the release, the Council is a federal advisory committee that aims to promote healthy, accessible eating and physical activity for all Americans, regardless of background or ability. The work of the Council will include a focus on expanding national awareness of the importance of mental health as it pertains to physical fitness and nutrition.

Elana Meyers Taylor is the US bobsleigh pilot with the most Olympic medals: three silver and two bronze. She was 2015 and 2017 World Champion and won the Overall World Cup 2015 and 2022 in 2-woman Bobsleigh. In November 2022, nine months after winning monobob silver and 2-woman bobsleigh bronze at the Beijing Winter Olympics, the 38-year-old became the mother of her second son, Noah.
