Sinaia (RWH) The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF mourns Nicolae Neagoe from Romania. As reported by the national federation Federatia Româna de Bob si Sanie (F.R.B.S.), the former Romanian bobsleigh push athlete passed away in April, aged 81.
Nicolae Neagoe started his bobsleigh career in 1961, aged 20, after playing football and wrestling.
1968 in Grenoble (FRA), Nicolae Neagoe won the first and to date only Winter Olympic medal for Romania: With pilot Ion Panțuru he won bronze in 2-man bob. World Championships silver (1969) and bronze (1973) as well as two medals at European Championships (silver 1967 and 1969) completed his medal collection in the small sled. In the 4-man bob, Neagoe was 1967 European Champion with pilot Panturu. ©RWH2023
