Leipzig (RWH) Mariama Jamanka (GER), 2018 2-woman bobsleigh Olympic Champion, is starting a new career. The 33-year-old Berliner, who ended her sporting career after winning the silver medal in Beijing (CHN) 2022 with Alexandra Burghardt as a push athlete, will take over the sports block in the midday magazine of the German TV channel ARD from January 2024, as was now announced by MDR as the lead institution. Mariama Jamanka already worked as a bobsleigh expert for ARD last winter.
The bobsleigh pilot, who competes for BRC Thuringia, had won Olympic gold in Pyeongchang (KOR) in 2018 with pusher Lisa Buckwitz. Jamanka also won the World Championship title in 2-woman bobsleigh with Annika Drazek in Whistler (CAN) in 2019.Photos: IBSF / Viesturs Lacis, Siegfried Kachel, RWH
