Lillehammer (RWH) 20 girls and 20 boys aged between 15 and 18 years from a total of 18 nations at the Youth Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer (NOR) made their first appearance under the Olympic flag, with six young athletes from Great Britain, Germany, France, Russia and Norway in the leading roles.
YOG gold went to Ashleigh Fay Pittaway (GBR) and to Evgenii Rukosuev (RUS), who both won all four races of the OMEGA IBSF Youth Qualification Series they took part. Hannah Neise (GER), she had two podium placings at the OMEGA IBSF Youth Qualification Series, won silver, and also Alexander Hestengen, who is the local hero in Lillehammer as the only skeleton athlete from Norway. The bronze medals went to Agathe Bessard from France and Robin Schneider from Germany.
