Tina Hermann places second in front of Jacqueline Lölling

Park City (RWH): Elena Nikitina of Russia has celebrated her second World Cup victory in Park City (USA). The athlete, who finished third at the Sochi Olympics, last took the top spot back in January 2013. Elena Nikitina has now secured her second World Cup victory at Utah Olympic Park, where she also set a new start record. The new record (4.83 seconds) is over one tenth of a second faster than the old record set by Anne O’Shea of the USA seven years ago.

Second place in Park City went to Tina Hermann of Germany (0.02 seconds back), the World Championship silver medallist and second-place athlete in last winter’s overall World Cup standings. World Champion and defending World Cup holder Jacqueline Lölling (GER, 0.23 seconds back) finished third.

Following the second of eight races in the BMW IBSF World Cup 2017/2018, Elena Nikitina (RUS, 417 points) has now taken the lead in the overall standings. Elisabeth Vathje (CAN, 386), sixth in Park City, is second overall ahead of team GB’s Laura Deas (368), who finished fifth in Park City. ©RWH2017
