Martins Dukurs second ahead of Axel Jungk

Park City (RWH): The skeleton athlete Sungbin Yun of Korea has won the second race of the 2017/2018 BMW IBSF World Cup season, which took place in Park City (USA). For his third ever World Cup victory, the runner-up in the overall World Cup standings for the past two seasons pushed World Champion and defending World Cup holder Martins Dukurs of Latvia (0.63 seconds back) into second place. On his second run, Sungbin Yun set a new track record of 48.50 seconds. World Championship runner-up Axel Jungk (GER, 0.75 seconds back) finished third in Park City.

Rhys Thornbury celebrated his second top-ten result after finishing ninth in Utah Olympic Park. The New Zealand athlete was placed fifth after his first run, ahead of athletes including Olympic Champion Alexander Tretiakov (RUS).

World Cup newcomer Jisoo Kim (KOR) was among the fastest starters in Park City and eventually finished eleventh.

Vladyslav Heraskevych of Ukraine celebrated his best World Cup result to date in 13th place.

Following the second of eight races in the BMW IBSF World Cup 2017/2018, the overall standings in the Olympic season are led by Sungbin Yun (KOR) and Martins Dukurs (LAT) on 435 points each. Axel Jungk (GER, 392) is third overall. ©RWH2017
