Berchtesgaden (RWH) Dirk Matschenz is the new Skeleton Head Coach of the German national team. According to a press release of the German Federation BSD (Bob- und Schlittenverband für Deutschland), Matschenz succeeds Jens Müller, who recently announced his retirement.
Dirk Matschenz competed as skeleton athlete since 1997. For Germany, he finished tenth at the 1999 World Championships in Altenberg. After moving to the Netherlands in 2002, the now 38-years-old finished fourth at the 2004 and 2006 European Championships, respectively.
As coach, Dirk Matschenz worked for the Netherlands, Norway and New Zealand before joining Jens Müller and the German national team in 2010. ©RWH2018
