Calgary (RWH) Canada’s Elisabeth Maier (nee Vathje), World Championships bronze medallist of 2015, will give birth to her first child in December 2019 and therefore is on maternity leave this winter. “My intention is to return to competitions for the 2020/2021 season”, the 25-years-old announced on Instagram.
Elisabeth Maier competed in her first World Cup races in December 2014, finishing second and first, respectively. The Canadian, who is married to Austrian Bobsleigh pilot Benjamin Maier, celebrated twelve podium placings in Skeleton World Cup including three victories. In BMW IBSF World Cup 2017/2018 she finished third overall. ©RWH2019
