Silver for Kreher, bronze for Neise - Youth Olympic Champion Tsyganova in tenth
Winterberg (RWH) Skeleton athlete Anna Fernstaedtová (CZE) has won gold at the Junior World Championships in Winterberg (GER) for the third time in a row. In 2018, the 23-year-old won her first title - at that time competing for Germany. After joining the Czech team, she defended her title in 2019 and now in 2020. Anna Fernstaedtová is the first skeleton athlete to win three Junior World Championship titles in a row.
The silver medal in Winterberg went to Susanne Kreher ahead of teammate Hannah Neise (both GER), the 2016 Youth Olympic Champion.
Anastasiia Tsyganova from Russia, the newly crowned Youth Olympic Champion from Lausanne 2020, was also competing in Winterberg. The 16-year-old finished her first Junior World Championships ranked tenth.
A total of 22 skeleton athletes from eleven nations competed in Winterberg, including five who participated in the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games.
As Junior World Champion, Anna Fernstaedtová is also eligible to start at the 2020 BMW IBSF World Championships in Altenberg (GER, February 21 – March 1, 2020). ©RWH2020
