Calgary (RWH) The Canadian skeleton athlete Mirela Rahneva has to take a break due to back problems, as the overall third in BMW IBSF World Cup in 2017 and 2019 announced on Instagram.
„Sitting out this year due to injury. A disk herniation at the C5-C6 vertebrae has pinched a nerve root", the 32-year-old wrote. "I’ll be taking time to het healthy this year before hitting the ice again in 2021.“
Mirela Rahneva has been part of the Canadian national skeleton team since 2013 and has been competing in the BMW IBSF World Cup since December 2016. Since then she has been first, second and third three times each. At the 2019 BMW IBSF World Championships in Whistler (CAN) she won silver in the team competition. ©RWH2020
