Keisinger and defending champion Grotheer on second and third place in Altenberg
Altenberg (RWH) Skeleton European Champion Alexander Tretiakov (BFR, Bobsleigh Federation of Russia) enters the second day of racing at the BMW IBSF World Championships 2021 in Altenberg as the leader after two of four runs.
Close on the heels of the 2013 World Champion are the athletes from the German home team: Felix Keisinger (0.04 seconds back), the 2020 Junior World Champion, is second in the intermediate classification ahead of defending World Champion Christopher Grotheer (0.06 seconds back).
Junior World Champion Evgeniy Rukosuev (BFR, 0.49 seconds back) spends the night ahead of the second World Championships day in fourth place. Overall World Cup runner-up Alexander Gassner (GER, 0.66 seconds back) and Britain's Matt Weston (0.83 seconds back) complete the top six.
Overall World Cup winner Martins-Dukurs (LAT), record World Champion with six titles between 2011 and 2019, had a pitch-black opening day. The ten-time overall World Cup winner from Latvia goes into the third of the four race runs in 14th place and 1.83 seconds behind the leader Tretiakov.
Olympic Champion Sungbin Yun from Korea finished the first World Championships day in 16th place.
The World Championships final in men's skeleton with races number three and four is on Friday, 12 February, at 1 and 3 pm.
