Hannah Neise and Axel Jungk win nomination races in Yanqing

Yanqing (RWH) With the World Champions Tina Hermann and Christopher Grotheer, the winners of the nomination races on the Olympic track in Yanqing, Hannah Neise and Axel Jungk, as well as Jaqcueline Lölling and Alexander Gassner, the German skeleton team goes into the Olympic winter and the BMW IBSF World Cup 2021/2022.

Tina Hermann and Christopher Grotheer, the two gold medal winners of the 2021 BMW IBSF World Championships in Altenberg, were already seeded for the World Cup team by national coach Christian Baude.

In the nomination races during the international training on the upcoming Olympic track for the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing, Junior World Champion Hannah Neise won the women's event. Axel Jungk, World Championship runner-up in 2020, was ahead in the men's race and confidently secured his World Cup spot for the Olympic season after a year's break from competition following injury and illness.

The third starting spot in both women's and men's skeleton went to 2018 Olympic silver medalist Jacqueline Lölling and World Cup bronze medalist Alexander Gassner.

Felix Keisinger, runner-up at the Junior World Championships, and Sophia Griebel will start the season in the Intercontinental Cup and can recommend themselves there with very good performances. Should someone from the World Cup team drop off in terms of performance or get injured, a change is possible at any time, according to national coach Baude.

On November 19, 2021, the bobsleigh and skeleton athletes will start the new season in the BMW IBSF Bobsleigh & Skeleton World Cup in Igls (AUT). The sporting highlight of the upcoming season will be the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, which will be held in Beijing/Yanqing (CHN) from February 4 - 20, 2022. ©RWH2021
