U20 titles go to Polina Tiurina and Elvis Veinbergs
Altenberg (RWH) The IBSF Skeleton European Cup 2021/2022 has come to an end with the last of the eight season races and the "Race in Race" Junior European Championships. 40 athletes from 14 nations competed in Altenberg (GER).
The 2022 Junior European Champion in women's skeleton is Agathe Bessard from France. The bromnze medallist at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games celebrated her first European Cup victory and also her first Junior European Championships title. Silver went to Russia's Polina Tiurina, bronze to Alessia Crippa from the Italian skeleton team.
Medals were also awarded in the U20 classification of the Junior European Championships. Gold went to Polina Tiurina (RUS), silver to Viktoria Hansova (GER) and bronze to Anastasiia Tsyganova (RUS).
The overall victory in the Skeleton European Cup went to Sarah Wimmer (GER, 445 points) ahead of Mystique Ro (USA / 390 points) and Polina Tiurina (RUS / 360 points).
2022 Junior European Champion in men's skeleton is Russia's Evgeniy Rukosuev, who had already celebrated the overall victory in the IBSF Intercontinental Cup in Altenberg shortly before. Silver went to Cedric Renner from Germany, Elvis Veinbergs from Latvia, runner-up at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games, was happy about his bronze medal. The 19-year-old also won the title in the U20 classification of the Junior European Championships ahead of the Russians Dimitrii Grevtsev and Bogdan Popov with silver and bronze.
Stefan Röttig (GER) secured overall victory in Altenberg with his second European Cup season win and a total of 468 points, ahead of his teammates Cedric Renner (445 points) and Ludwig Mannhardt (339 points). ©RWH2022
