Berchtesgaden (RWH) The German federation BSD (Bob- und Schlittenverband für Deutschland) and head coach Christian Baude have agreed to extend their successful cooperation for another four years. This was announced by the BSD in a press release. Together with his coaching staff, Baude will accompany the skeleton athletes on their way to the Olympic Winter Games in Milan-Cortina 2026.

In Baude's first season as national coach, Christopher Grotheer and Tina Hermann became World Champions in Altenberg in 2021. In the 2021/22 Olympic winter, Grotheer and teammate Axel Jungk won gold and silver at the Beijing Winter Games, and Hannah Neise became surprise Olympic Champion. For Germany, these were the first ever Olympic medals in men's skeleton and the first Olympic gold for a German female skeleton athlete.

Apart from his actual work as coach of the World Cup team, Christian Baude wants to take care of the increase of the coaching team. "Over the next four years, we will try to train former athletes as coaches and integrate them into our system. We have already had good and promising talks with two or three people," said Baude in the BSD interview.

New is a  project, in which athletes from other sports are introduced to skeleton and integrated: "As things stand, we already have two to three promising female athletes," said Baude. ©RWH2022
