Altenberg (RWH) World Champion Tina Hermann and Felix Keisinger, Junior World Champion from 2019 and 2020, are the 2022 German Skeleton Champions. This was announced by the German federation BSD (Bob- und Schlittenverband für Deutschland).
In the women's event, Hermann won ahead of 2018 Olympic silver medallist Jacqueline Lölling and Susanne Kreher, who clocked the best start time twice. In the men's event, Alexander Gassner and Youth Olympic Champion Lukas Nydegger finished second and third behind winner Felix Keisinger.
The Olympic Champions Hannah Neise and Christopher Grotheer, as well as the Olympic silver medallist Axel Jungk, only competed in one run in Altenberg for health reasons or did not compete at all.
The German Championships in Altenberg were the first selection race for the upcoming World Cup season. The second of a total of four races will take place on 19 October in Sigulda (LAT), before the last two qualification races will be held in Winterberg at the beginning of November.
