Men's skeleton title goes to Cedric Renner, Rasmus Johansen takes first medal for Denmark with silver
Winterberg (RWH) Olympic Champion Hannah Neise and teammate Cedric Renner (both GER) are the 2023 Junior World Champions in Women’s and Men’s Skeleton.
On her home track in Winterberg (GER), Hannah Neise claimed her second Junior World Championship gold after 2021 and thus secured her personal starting spot at the 2023 BMW IBSF World Championships in St. Moritz (SUI, Jan. 23-Feb. 5). Silver and bronze in Winterberg went to Britain's Tabitha Stoecker (0.45 seconds back) and Freya Tarbit (0.56 seconds back). In the U20 Junior World Championships, US athlete Hallie Clarke won gold ahead of Switzerland's Sara Schmied and Viktoria Hansova of Germany.
In men's skeleton, Junior World Championships gold and the starting spot in St. Moritz went to Cedric Renner (GER), the 2021 Europe Cup overall winner. Silver went to Rasmus Johansen (0.06 seconds back), close behind, as the first athlete from Denmark. Youth Olympic Champion Lukas Nydegger (GER, 0.25 seconds back), in the lead after the first run in Winterberg, dropped back to third place in the second race run. U20 World Champion in Winterberg was Austrian Roman Tanzer ahead of Ryan Kuehn from Canada and Timon Drahonovsky (CZE).
