Amedeo Bagnis second ahead of Marcus Wyatt, Olympic Champion Grotheer in ninth place
St. Moritz (RWH) Skeleton European Champion Matt Weston from Great Britain is the half-time leader at the BMW IBSF World Championships 2023 in St. Moritz (SUI). Surprisingly in second place: Italy's Amedeo Bagnis. In third place, Marcus Wyatt (GBR) goes into the final day with another two race runs. The leader of the overall World Cup ranking is 1.30 seconds behind team mate Matt Weston.
One hundredth of a second behind is currently Korean Seunggi Jung in fourth place ahead of Craig Thompson (GBR) and Olympic bronze medallist Yan Wengang (CHN).
Defending World Champion and Olympic Champion Christopher Grotheer from Germany will start the second World Cup day in St. Moritz as ninth in the intermediate ranking. Junior World Champion Cedric Renner (GER) is eleventh.

Matt Weston (GBR, 2023 European Champion).
"The first run was probably my best here on this track. I had a few mistakes in the second one, although it didn't show too much in my downtime. I'm really excited to see what’s in it tomorrow."
Amedeo Bagnis (ITA, third in the 2020 World Team Championships)
"Second place is also surprising for me. The training went well, but in the race it's something else again. The slides were good, I hope I can start even faster on the second day."
Marcus Wyatt (GBR, overall leader in the BMW IBSF World Cup 2022/2023)
"The first two runs went pretty well. I made a couple mistakes though which cost me some time. I hope I can slide cleaner tomorrow and move up another place. Matt is flying at the moment - to be on the podium with him would be insane."
