Skeleton athlete Jacqueline Pfeifer: Home World Championships in sight, Olympics in mind, Photos: IBSF / Viesturs Lacis

Winterberg (RWH) After a difficult 2022/2023 season, skeleton athlete Jacqueline Pfeifer (GER) wants to do it again. The 2018 Olympic silver medallist, who is still listed under her birth name Lölling in results lists at that time, is aiming for qualification for the German World Cup team, the 2024 BMW IBSF World Championships on her home track in Winterberg and, as a long-term goal, perhaps even the 2026 Olympic Winter Games Milan-Cortina (ITA). The 28-year-old revealed this in an interview with the team of the Eisarena Winterberg.

Missed World Cup qualification, overall victory in the IBSF Intercontinental Cup and seventh place at the 2023 World Championships in St. Moritz (SUI): "Last season was difficult, but in the end I made the best of it. At the beginning it was bitter not to compete in the World Cup. Also because it was so close in the selection. The World Championships was solid and a good finish. I did everything I could at that time," said Jacqueline Pfeifer, who got married in the summer and is now starting the new season under a new name.

Her declared goal is to compete in the BMW IBSF World Cup. "The national competition is simply very strong. Even with four quota spots, the World Cup qualification in autumn will be very exciting," says Jacqueline Pfeifer, who went down in sporting history as the first Youth Olympic Champion in 2012, was the overall World Cup winner three times and World Champion in 2017. The best memory: "Besides my Olympic silver medal, World Championships silver in 2015 is the most important medal I have won - and this on my home track. That was very emotional, I like to think back on it. It makes me want to go to the 2024 World Championships at home even more," says the skeleton athlete in an interview about her big goal, the 2024 BMW IBSF World Championships in Winterberg. ©RWH2023
