Milan (RWH) Skeleton athlete Amedeo Bagnis (ITA), World Championship silver medallist in 2023, is one of 13 candidates put forward by the Italian winter sports federation FISI for the election as Athlete of the Year. After the first phase until 8 October, the three athletes with the most votes will remain in the running, the second voting phase will then run until 22 October.
The winter sports federation will announce who will become FISI Athlete of the Year 2023 during the Ski Pass Modena, from 27 to 29 October at the traditional Festa degli Azzurri.
Amedeo Bagnis had surprisingly won the silver medal at the BMW IBSF World Championships 2023 in St. Moritz (SUI). He is the first Italian to win a World Championship medal in skeleton.
